Shake it like a Polaroid picture





My vintage camera family gained another member this week, a Polaroid Instant 1000 Land Camera. If I'm totally honest the appeal with this one is all about the shape, the colour and the rainbow stripe - I decided it was worth the risk of it ending up as a gorgeous paperweight if it didn't work! It came with a pack of expired film so I got giddy about the effects that might be created using it until I figured out this particular Polaroid model is powered by batteries in each pack of film - rookie mistake, of course film a decade or two old would have a flat battery. I'd come across The Impossible Project a while ago and been really impressed by the work they had done bringing back the production of Polaroid-compatible film after it was discontinued by Polaroid themselves in 2008, a little checking up later I discovered that their PX-70 films would work, brilliant! The only downside; at £17.00 per pack it'll cost a mint each time I fancy getting snappy but that's the price of retro beauty I suppose!

There have been a few more finds over the past couple of days, but I thought this little lovely deserved her own post ♥

    It's perfection! I have a polaroid from the 2000's and you don't need a battery with the film thankfully! I have expired film and it gives a cool darker image. xx

    She's a beauty! I have a polaroid somewhere, like Em's it's from the late 90s/early 00's - I must dig it out, they're such fun.

    That camera sure is a beauty and of course a great addition to your vintage camera family. The rainbow stripes are very retro and the camera itself looks in such good condition for it's age. I know very little about cameras myself, but have always admired the art and those who collect/use them xxx

    The polaroid prints my American cousin gave me in the sixties deteriorated badly, but of course these days you can scan them immediately!

    Such an iconic design. I always wanted a Polaroid as a child, you just had to buy this, so glad you did. £17 for film is steep, but some spend that on coffee and fags, so it's all relative!

    What a great little find! That is a shame the film is costly, but I am sure it will be worth it to have real retro-ish photo's though :) Happy Camera Snapping...

    I love polaroids! My husband has a really cool old polaroid camera, but film is just so expensive! I have a newer version which is fun, but it's not quite the same.

    I have always wanted a polaroid camera but the price of film has always turned me off a little bit! They really do take the coolest photos though! enjoy.
